About this site
Board games, card games, hanafuda and puzzles: traditional games you can play right in your browser. No sign-up and no download. Everything works on phones, tablets and computers, and the sound stays off until you turn it on.
“Yorimichi” is a Japanese word for stopping somewhere on the way to somewhere else. The site is meant to be that kind of place: open it, play a quick game, and get back to your day.
Why we made this site
Games like mancala, reversi, card games and hanafuda have been played for generations, yet it can be surprisingly hard to find a version you can simply open and play, without an account, an app or a wall of ads. Yorimichi Games is our attempt at that: traditional games, carefully explained, that run in any browser.
The site started in Japanese. The English pages cover the games that are played around the world, plus Japanese games such as hanafuda that are worth discovering if you have never tried them.
Who the games are for
- Every game is designed with first-time players in mind. The rules guide under each game starts from the very beginning.
- Games with a computer opponent have three levels: Easy, Normal and Hard. Easy is tuned so that someone playing for the first time can win.
- Many games can also be played by two people taking turns on one screen.
- The sound starts switched off, so nothing plays unexpectedly in a classroom, an office or on the train. Use the Sound button in each game to turn it on.
How the games are made
- Rules: we check each game against several sources, such as rule books, reference works and the explanations of game associations. Where people play by different house rules, you can choose the rules in the settings.
- Devices: every game is tested on phones, tablets and computers, with touch, mouse and (for many games) keyboard controls, in both light and dark mode.
- Guides: each game page has a guide to the rules, the rule variations, strategy tips and common questions.
- Your data: there is no login. Settings, scores and saved games are stored only in your own browser.

To keep the games free, Yorimichi Games shows ads from Google AdSense, a third-party advertising service.
